How to take your measurements and bespoke garments from Rose's Wardrobe!

Rose’s Wardrobe offers made to measure garments to ensure each and every one is just as unique as you are! Here’s how to measure your size and how to request alterations through Rose’s Wardrobe’s bespoke service. 

HOW TO MEASURE YOUR SIZE

There’s a reason why you’re a different size in every high street shop! Bodies are not made to the same proportions, which is part of the reason why we don’t all fit into one size across the high street. At Rose’s Wardrobe, we emphasize the beauty in all our bodies and believe that difference is what makes us unique. 

Here’s how to take your body's measurements properly. 

Remember: when taking measurements, your tape measure should be held flat against your body. This means it should be held snug enough to not to droop, but not too tight it feels restrictive. Other things to make sure are that the tape measure is not twisted and that you do not add wiggle room to your measurements - Rose’s Wardrobe will add this for each style! 

Feel free to send your “skin measurements” over in inches or centimetres. 

How to measure your waist: 

Measure all the way around your body at the smallest part of your waist. Remember to be relaxed and not breathing in as you don’t want your garment to be too tight! 

How to measure your inside leg: 

Measure from the top of your leg all the way down to your ankle. This measurement is most important for trousers, so if you’re alone and unable to do it without assistance, you could always measure a pair of your favourite trousers alongside the inside seam. 

How to measure your torso: 

Measure from the nape of your neck (around where your collarbone starts) down to your hips. This is an important measurement for dresses. 

How to measure your arm length: 

Measure from your shoulder to wrist and ensure your arm is bent a little bit, as long sleeves need this ease to be comfortable. 

How to measure across your back: 

Measure from shoulder to shoulder across your back. 

How to measure your hips: 

At the widest part of your hips/bottom, measure all the way around ensuring the tape is relaxed and not twisted. 

How to measure your full bust: 

Measure all the way around the fullest part of your chest, ensuring that you’re relaxed.

Even better, there’s the added reassurance that your selected bespoke piece will never appear as a Ready to Wear item on the website - when Rose’s Wardrobe commits to bespoke, they really are committed to it being just for you. 

To get started, there’s a simple form to fill in. If there’s an image you’d like to attach, please send that to hello@roseswardrobe.co.uk with the subject as your name so Rose’s Wardrobe can match up with the form.

THE BESPOKE SERVICE FORM

If you’re ready to go with creating your dream wardrobe, Rose’s Wardrobe has a simple form that’s easy to fill in to start the process of your completely bespoke garment.

There’s the option of creating a new garment, altering an existing Rose’s Wardrobe design - whether that be in measurement or element - or something else you’ve thought up!  Take a look at Rose’s Wardrobe’s vintage inspired garments and accessories here).

Once you’ve decided on what you’d like, the next decision to make is fabric. Rose’s Wardrobe can either seek out the perfect sustainable fabric, or you may wish to provide your own fabric, choose from an existing fabric, or even have Rose’s Wardrobe design a fabric just for you. 

As Rose’s Wardrobe is committed to sustainability, all fabrics sourced/used are sustainable, natural or deadstock fabrics unless you are supplying the fabric yourself.

Once the form has been submitted, the Rose’s Wardrobe team will look into your requirements and send you a follow up email or arrange a time for your complimentary Zoom call if you’ve chosen that option. You’ll be able to go into more depth about your garment, and receive a detailed estimate for your very own bespoke garment. 

Please note that Rose’s Wardrobe only takes on a certain amount of bespoke garments per month.

THE TEAM

Rose’s Wardrobe was founded by Emma and Leanne after both having over 12 years of experience between them working in high street, vintage inspired, and fashion supplier backgrounds. The inspiration from Rose’s Wardrobe derived from Emma and Leanne’s muses - their grandmas and great grandma - Patricia, Edna, and Rose. The aim is to produce replicas of the beautiful clothes their grandmas wore, using colours, styles and prints from the 1940’s through to the 1960’s.
