The Nen Skirt for Spring 2020 in Herringbone Fabric
Grace Scott
Our popular Nen skirt is now available in a brand new Herringbone fabric for Spring 2020 - woven in Langholm.
HERRINGBONE FABRIC
The versatile Nen skirt is now available in our brand new Herringbone fabric. True to Rose’s Wardrobe’s roots, this delightful fabric has been designed by Lynn Elliott and woven in Langholm where Rose’s Wardrobe is based. The fabric, made of 100% new wool, has been woven next door to Lynn by Robbie Trussler of Drove Weaving.
Rose’s Wardrobe is committed to supporting and revitalising Langholm’s rich textile heritage, which you can read more about here.
By using local suppliers, not only is Rose’s Wardrobe supporting fellow small businesses and it’s local town of Langholm, but also reducing emissions from transportation of fabric and ensuring fabric is sustainable. Read about Rose’s Wardrobe’s commitment to sustainability here.
The Herringbone is a coral/lilac, making it an ideal transitional piece into, and throughout, Spring 2020.
THE NEN SKIRT
The Nen skirt is a 1940’s style 8 panel skirt that has traditionally been available in our Donegal and Dogtooth fabric. For Spring 2020, we’re introducing the Nen skirt in a locally woven Herringbone fabric.
The Nen skirt is a flattering skirt that’s semi fitted and skims over the hips. It sits at the lower waist and flows across the hips with a kick out at the hem to give a classic feminine silhouette.
The Nen skirt is finished with a concealed back zip and is fully lined with blush pink Tencel. For our Spring style, the Nen Skirt sits slightly lower than the waist (top hip) so please do take that into account when ordering your size.
Your skirt will be sewn by Rose’s Wardrobe just around the corner from where the Herringbone fabric was designed and woven - making this a truly handmade in Scotland unique piece!
MADE TO MEASURE SERVICE
As Rose’s Wardrobe’s items are handmade, a brand new Made to Measure service has been introduced where you can adjust the size of your garment to fit your size. Whether it’s waist or length measurement, the Made to Measure service ensures that your piece is perfectly fitted to you.
The current options are as follows:
Option 1

Option 2
- Up to 6 inches added to skirt/dress length.

THE TEAM
Rose’s Wardrobe was founded by Emma and Leanne after both having over 12 years of experience between them working in high street, vintage inspired, and fashion supplier backgrounds. The inspiration from Rose’s Wardrobe derived from Emma and Leanne’s muses - their grandmas and great grandma - Patricia, Edna, and Rose. The aim is to produce replicas of the beautiful clothes their grandmas wore, using colours, styles and prints from the 1940’s through to the 1960’s. You can connect with Rose’s Wardrobe on Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest. Have a look at where Rose’s Wardrobe will be here. Read our sustainability statement. Or, shop the collection.
