Grace Scott

SCOTTISH START UP LAUNCHED BY WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS

Scottish business Rose’s Wardrobe was launched in 2018 by Emma and Leanne. The women owned business adds a twist to the existing Scottish retailers on the market. All items are handmade, sustainable, and there’s a personal connection to every garment. The independent business women aim to contribute to Scotland’s startup scene, reminisce over memories of their grannies, and bring back Langholm’s textile industry.

STARTUP SCOTLAND

Small businesses in Scotland are growing. Rose’s Wardrobe is the new Scottish Start up on the scene. Scottish retailers - like much of the fast fashion industry - are reporting continuously declining months. Rose’s Wardrobe aims to bring something different to the existing Scottish retailers. The independent business is bringing the handmade and sustainable movement to the Scottish start up scene. Most items from Rose’s Wardrobe are handmade, with many items made to order. The fabrics used are from Langholm’s now shut down textile mills. History and love is woven into every element of Rose’s Wardrobes vintage inspired designs.

WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS INSPIRED BY THEIR FAMILIES

The women owned business is inspired by Emma and Leanne’s grandma’s and great grandma. The women entrepreneurs named the brand “Rose’s Wardrobe” after Leanne’s grandma Rose. Fond memories of dressing up as children and flicking through old photographs as adults inspired Emma and Leanne. Beautiful replicas are handmade by Rose’s Wardrobe from their base in Langholm. Mixing colours, styles and prints from the 1940’s through to the 1960’s to create a vintage inspired wardrobe made to order.

The Scottish startup is contributing to empowering women in business. Rose’s Wardrobe is proudly run by two women from their home on the Scottish border. It doesn’t stop there, though, as the small business wants to empower and be part of the revival of the textile and manufacturing industry in Langholm, where the women entrepreneurs are based.

A NEW TWIST ON SCOTTISH RETAILERS

Langholm is a small town in Scotland. Textiles are built into the foundations of Langholm’s history. Rose’s Wardrobe values it’s history and wants to do something to bring it back. The business startup Scotland is committed to being part of reviving the textile industry after all 15 textile mills have closed down over the years. The women entrepreneurs ultimate aim is bring back the textile and manufacturing industry to Langholm with workshops and hopefully one day a small scale manufacturing facility. Currently, the women owned business is using the remaining fabrics from the textile mills to prevent any excess waste.

THE TEAM

Rose’s Wardrobe was founded by Emma and Leanne after both having over 12 years of experience between them working in high street, vintage inspired, and fashion supplier backgrounds. The inspiration from Rose’s Wardrobe derived from Emma and Leanne’s muses - their grandmas and great grandma - Patricia, Edna, and Rose. The aim is to produce replicas of the beautiful clothes their grandmas wore, using colours, styles and prints from the 1940’s through to the 1960’s.
