Rose’s Wardrobes trip to Shrewsbury & Northampton

We enjoyed a fabulous weekend visiting Shrewsbury & Northampton!
SUNNY SHREWSBURY
It was an absolutely gloriously sunny day for our Saturday stroll around Shrewsbury.
We stayed at a beautiful period hotel called Mytton & Mermaid just outside Shrewsbury. In the morning we took the opportunity with the beautiful surroundings to take some photos of me in our brand new dress style - ‘Helen’ - Leanne did a great job but my hair was not as I had hoped!
Next stop after a quick breakfast we headed into Shrewsbury!
Instantly fell in love with the Architecture of the town.
MAGGIE MAE’S VINTAGE
We have both been desperate to visit Maggie Mae’s Vintage for such a long time! We would of course visited before now if it wasn’t for all the restrictions over the past year.
What a delight the shop was! A perfect mix of true vintage clothing and accessories and reproduction styles. We had a lovely chat with Megan about all things vintage and I treated myself to some House of Drewid ‘Marcel’ setting spray, Fatale cosmetics ‘Harlow’ Coral lipstick and lipliner and a few vintage accessories!
SHREWSBURY QUARRY & THE DINGLE
Next we went to the Quarry, which is a lovely big park area with a vintage band stand and wondered around the Dingle. I have never seen such beautiful Rhododendron bushes! The colours were exquisite.
THE ‘HELEN’ DRESS
One of our aims for the weekend was to photograph the latest style entering the Wardrobe, the ‘Helen’ dress. As my hair wasn’t behaving on Saturday, I re rolled in on Saturday night using my new ‘Marcel’ setting spray from Maggie Mae’s Vintage, and ta-da! My hair turned out a dream on Sunday! I still need some practice but was much happier with it, so took some extra photos Sunday morning.
The ‘Helen’ dress is made from 100% Oeko-Tex certified European Linen. It is available in the pictured sunny mustard and off white gingham but also in a Cherry red and off white gingham too. It has a contrast off white panel down the front and bow to match. The gingham covered buttons are decorative and it is fastened with a concealed back zip (if you would like the buttons to function instead of a zip, just write it in the additional comments section after ‘add to cart’)
THE VINTAGE RETREAT, NORTHAMPTON
Our next stop on Sunday, before heading back up to bonnie Scotland, was to visited The Vintage Retreat! My goodness, I was in my element! It’s a fantastic place to visit, going to bring Nanna there some day as she would love it.
We have a little bookcase with Rose’s Wardrobe accessories in it, so it was nice to see that and set up our new headband stands.
We also had the delight of meeting up with Ellen (@hatpinsandredlipstick on Instagram) . Ellen has been a ‘Insta friend’ of Rose’s Wardrobe for a long time now and it was nice to finally meet in real life! Not that I need any encouragement but I think she was a bad influence on buying new to me treasures at the Vintage Retreat, we both went away with a good armful of goodies!

Rose’s Wardrobe was founded by Emma and Leanne after both having over 12 years of experience between them working in high street, vintage inspired, and fashion supplier backgrounds. The inspiration from Rose’s Wardrobe derived from Emma and Leanne’s muses - their grandmas and great grandma - Patricia, Edna, and Rose. The aim is to produce replicas of the beautiful clothes their grandmas wore, using colours, styles and prints from the 1940’s through to the 1960’s.
