Barbiecore: Life in Plastic, it's Fantastic!
Kyle Philips
Barbiecore is a fashion trend that has frankly exploded over the past couple of months. This is due to the smash hit Barbie movie starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling released on July 21st alongside Oppenhiemer creating the unique tone clashing dual release known as Barbenhiemer. We here at Rose Wardrobe have exactly what you might be looking for in terms of Barbie and Feminist inspired fashion items for your own wardrobe. So today we’re going to present a list of just some of the items of clothing we think would make life in plastic fantastic.
‘Lillias’ blouse in Watercolour Blush
This unique stylistic blouse is incredibly unique and colourful with so many unique attributes that make it a good barbiecore piece to own and wear. It is incredibly pink thus making it automatically associate with Barbie by default even if a new movie wasn’t released this very year.
‘Isabella’ Round Neck Picot Detail Vintage inspired short sleeve jumper
Everyone loves a good jumper and this one is no different. Not only does it have a bit of a unique bit of pinkness to which immediately makes it Barbiecore by default. But because it’s a jumper this will keep you warm in the currently upcoming colder months via the sheer feminist power of Barbie.
‘Rosie’ Half circle Vintage inspired skirt in Watercolour Floral and Tonal Heather
Reaching the Penultimate spot on the list we have a very floral skirt to talk about. The floral design on the skirt looks fantastic like it came from a time long ago but not too long ago. The floral patterns remind me a lot of old house wallpaper you’d see at your grandparents or another house that was built a fair while ago. Also Barbie and Skirts just go together like how Barbie goes with Oppenhiemer, it all just fits together too perfectly.
-’Nen’ panneled skirt in Coffee Twill
This innovative skirt is frankly dazzling for so many reasons. For one it has this very nice vintage coffee colour to it which gives off a very empowering aura when worn. Personally I could see Barbie rocking with this style in the new movie but she unfortunately did not, so why not do what Barbie couldn’t and wear this very empowering and frankly fantastic skirt.
Before we cap off the list today I think this end portion would be a good time to go over some fabrics we also happen to think look very Barbiecore and nice. You can order these yourself if you wish to on the website once you’ve finished reading this blog post of course.
Blush pink tencel
This pink style fabric looks so smooth, delicate and would look incredibly nice to wear. While not a vibrant pink like Barbie the colour pink still counts and I feel Barbie would still approve of this tone.
Rose pink cotton
A bit more of a vibrant pink for this Fabric and I think it may even look a bit better than the first one. It’s vibrant and pops right out as soon as you see it. It’s more rough texture looks very vintage and very classy to wear.
Watercolour Blush
You know the rules and so do I by now, if it has even a bit of pink then it’s considered Barbiecore. This pattern takes on a more floral approach and looks frankly brilliant in my opinion. It has a lovely floral design, it’s pink, it’s made of 100% cotton and did I even mention it was pink?
Tonal Heather
This Heather is indeed very tonal, Obvious statements aside if there is one thing that practically screams Barbie in terms of what we’ve talked about it’s this. The pink is very prominent and is broken up by a lot of white dots from the tone of the wool. It’s an incredibly nice fabric that is incredibly versatile and I imagine very comfy to wear for hours at a time while you are in your very own Barbie World.
So there we have it, just a few items of apparel that we certainly think is Barbiecore. All of these items and so much more are available on the Rose’s Wardrobe website. THE TEAM
Rose’s Wardrobe was founded by Emma and Leanne after both having over 12 years of experience between them working in high street, vintage inspired, and fashion supplier backgrounds. The inspiration from Rose’s Wardrobe derived from Emma and Leanne’s muses - their grandmas and great grandma - Patricia, Edna, and Rose. The aim is to produce replicas of the beautiful clothes their grandmas wore, using colours, styles and prints from the 1940’s through to the 1960’s.
