Rose’s Wardrobe is a Scottish small business which recreates vintage inspired clothing. Our new collection ‘An Autumn Stroll’ uses inspiration from a number of our muses and is available now!
VINTAGE INSPIRED FASHION AT ROSE’S WARDROBE
At Rose’s Wardrobe, we design a range of vintage reproductions inspired by our muses, each of whom was a close relative of Leanne or Emma. Our Autumn 2021 collection features some of our classic styles as well as new additions based on the fashions of the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s. Read on to learn more about the stories behind the pieces.
1950s FASHION: THE ‘PATRICIA’ TROUSERS
These beautiful tailored trousers are named after Leanne’s Mum and Emma’s Nanna who are both Patricias. This classic trouser shape was actually one of Granny Rosie’s wardrobe staples - see her pictured looking cool and care free with a young Patricia on the back of a Moped. For Autumn, the ‘Patricia’ trousers come in a choice of two 100% superfine wool fabrics which were designed in Langholm and produced by ex mills of the town.
1940s FASHION: THE ‘ELLA’ DRESS
Pictured is Eva, Emma’s great great Granny, whose wrap dress inspired the new ‘Ella’ dress style. The wrap fastening was popular in the 1940s as it created the fashionable hourglass silhouette and was easy to adjust. Ella is the name of two of Leanne’s aunties, and is also a family name for Emma, perfect for the latest addition to the Wardrobe. The ‘Ella’ dress is available in our lovely new blue ramie fabric and features a shawl collar and mid-length skirt.
1950s FASHION: THE ‘ROSIE’ SKIRT
The ‘Rosie’ skirt - named after our namesake Rose - is a staple for any season! We have reintroduced the style in our new Autumn check and navy wool, both of which are 100% wool and manufactured here in the UK. The voluminous half-circle cut was developed in the 1950s as part of Christian Dior’s ‘New Look’, a change from the narrow skirt which were worn during the war years when fabric was scarce. The ‘Rosie’ skirt looks beautiful paired with our 1940s style ‘Lillias’ blouse and new ‘Polly’ waistcoat!
1930s FASHION: THE ‘POLLY’ WAISTCOAT IN CUSTOM FABRIC
New to the Wardrobe this Autumn season is our ‘Polly’ waistcoat.
This style has been highly requested and is inspired by 1930s tailoring and named after the ever cool Polly Gray from Peaky Blinders. The ‘Polly’ waistcoat is listed on our shop in our amazing Autumn check or our new navy wool but as always, you can request any fabric via our custom order form!
For the waistcoat pictured here, our lovely customer asked us to source a new fabric to suit her style. We worked together to find this wine toned herringbone wool, as well as vintage marble-effect buttons and a custom lining.
We love working on projects like this and are always happy to accommodate your needs. Just get in touch to request a different fabric, length or sleeve style or any changes needed for improved accessibility!
